Like so many, I feel deep distress for what is going on in Israel. I have many friends and family living in Israel and they are all afraid to go on to the streets. They go to work, shop for food, go to shul on Shabbat and do what they have to do…BUT beyond that, Continue Reading »
Our High Holidays were so beautiful. HHJC is a true family. We pray together, chant together, laugh together and even cry together. We are truly here for each other and for our community. We are a true example of what Yiddishkeit is about and we are a role model for the Jewish community. I wish Continue Reading »
I hope everyone had a nice summer. On the very hot days, I must admit that I did indulge in a bit of Rocky Road ice cream…low fat of course. I also spent many hours sitting at the piano composing a lot of new music for my 18th book of Jewish/Synagogue Music. I hope you Continue Reading »
Just want to share with you some Zim comings and goings this summer…Three of my grandsons (Jonathan, Jordan & Jared – Craig’s kids) just returned from a back-packing trip to Europe. January 2015 marked the 70th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz/Birkenau. It seems so far back, yet, in reality it is very recent. Around 300 survivors of the Nazi concentration/death camp returned to the horrific site in Poland to mark this special anniversary of their liberation. Many of them came wearing some form of the Continue Reading »
AM YISRAEL CHAI — AM YISRAEL CHAI — THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL LIVE This is what I want to scream out to the world, as I watch the horrific slaughtering of innocent people in Paris. To think that you can be strolling through a supermarket shopping for Shabbat and all of a sudden, you are Continue Reading »
Perhaps some of you watched the tribute to the TOP 10 CNN HEROES as June and I did recently. There were 3 “heroes” in particular that caught my attention. Firstly, I was so proud of the 2 Jewish heroes that were honored. Rabbi Elimelech Goldberg tragically lost his 2 year old daughter to leukemia in Continue Reading »
