Dear Friends,
Ever since Shavu’ot, we have been out of sync with our Israeli sisters and brothers. For us, that Yom Tov was Friday and Shabbat; they only observed Friday, and resumed the Torah reading cycle on Shabbat. So we’ve been a week and parshah behind them. This is the week we catch up, reading both Hukkat and Balak.
Joey Weisenberg is rarity on the Jewish music scene in this way: his family has been in the United States since before the Civil War. He felt that he needed to celebrate his heritage with an Americana-flavored melody. He calls this one “Lincoln’s Niggun.”
For this week’s scavenger hunt, see if you can connect these songs to the Torah portions:

Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom, Happy 4th of July, and as always good health,
