I was thrilled you were all able to experience and hear the many talents of my AJR Cantorial & Rabbinical students at our Gala Celebration Concert. They all have their own individual styles & sounds that enrapture us. Whether it is Chazzanut, Yiddish (fiddler style), Ladino, Opera or Pop…they are all gifted and love expressing themselves through song. They are also very respectful of each other and the Jewish culture. I am so proud of them! How about my friend Herschel Fox…He is truly one of a kind! He is not only a marvelous Cantor but he is on the level of some of the best comedians. He tells a story like no other and he can even tell a story through song. Not only is he an incredible talent but he is also a true mensch and loving soul. Thank you for welcoming him to our synagogue. Michal Reshef’s voice is powerful and sweet at the same time. She has tremendous talent and I am confident she will be successful at launching her solo career. Thank you all for so warmly welcoming our featured artists. They were truly able to understand why I love my congregation.
Our HHBJC WINTER FAMILY COMMUNITY DINNER was Fantabulous! The room looked beautiful & festive! Everything was perfect! MARIS BLECHNER, what can I say? You made it happen. Yasher Koach to you and your fantastic Committee…JOYCE FOGEL, JOAN GREEN, JANET HILLER, JO ANN LUQUIS, AMANDA MENZIE, ROBYN ROSENBERG, JAYE SOLOMOWITZ and last in alphabetical order but certainly not least, MARILYN TELEKY. You are all special people and invaluable members of our community. Everything you did was so well organized, planned and with incredible involvement. What a NIGHT TO REMEMBER & SHARE with COMMUNITY! We had this special time to bond with family, neighbors & friends. The warmth throughout the room was beautiful.
We had a great attendance and I think the children were very captivated by the Magician. Wow! There was truly something for everyone. The children (and adults) loved the Face Painting. We had magnificent music by the LANDAU TRIO (our home grown talent)! David & Jeremy, both of you have great talent! Arnie, you were fantastic and I love how you learned to play the bass in such a short period of time! Diane and Grandma Norma, you should be so proud!
The food was fantastic & plentiful from “Fortune Kosher Chinese Food” (they are located at 180-26 Union Tpke.). Even I really enjoyed and I am so picky! There was something for everyone…Jelly Bean Contest, Grab Bag Pick and Chanukah Gifts were given to the children.
Thank you so much to our SISTERHOOD for having your gift shop available to everyone! You are the best!
Our wonderful RABBI WISE started off the evening and I was happy to close our beautiful community dinner by singing some Chanukah songs.
Thank you to our TONY. He is always there for us!
Oh, I almost forgot…we also delighted in the scrumptious SUFGANIYOT (my favorite)!
Well, winter is really here…It’s time to break out the hot chocolate, sugar free of course. Let’s keep ourselves warm by huddling together at shul. Come join us for Shabbat services. We’ll pray together and sing together and then well schmooze a little and laugh a little and maybe eat a little. A great way to get over the winter blues.
June and I wish all of you a Happy New Year. I pray for everyone’s health and peace.
See you in shul!
Cantorially always,
Cantor Sol Zim
